Historical Journey of Gandhidham
Gandhidham, initially known as Sardarganj, located in the eastern part of Kutch district, in the state of Gujarat. It is the largest and most populous city in Kutch District, Gujarat, India. It was created in the early 1950s for the resettlement of Sindhi Hindu refugees from Sindh, Pakistan, in the aftermath of the partition of India. The city was named after M K Gandhi. Soon after the Partition of India, in 1947, a large group of Sindhi Hindus refugees from Sindh of Pakistan migrated to India. The maharaja of Kutch Vijayaraji donated 15,000 acres (61 km2) of land to Bhai Pratap, who founded the Sindhu Resettlement Corporation Ltd. SRC to rehabilitate Sindhi Hindus that migrated from Sindh in Pakistan.
Traditions Of A Rising City
Thousands of Sindhi refugees, displaced from Sindh (now in Pakistan), were resettled in this region of Kutch. Under the guidance of the legendary industrialist Seth Shree Ramkrishna Dalmia and inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, the town was established in 1948 and named Gandhidham in honor of the Father of the Nation. Designed as a modern, well-planned city, Gandhidham symbolized hope, rehabilitation, and progress.

Established in 1950, Kandla Port was India’s first major port developed after independence. Over the decades, it has grown into a modern, multi-cargo port with world-class infrastructure, serving industries, exporters, and importers across the country.
